The increase in quality when the Moon was here Interestingly more evident than at the DACs by musical fidelity and benchmark 300 D (1400 euro).

If the Canadian manufacturer of moon in its product description proudly by “internal upsampling using 24-bit/352.8 kHz processing” speaks, that first impressive sound, but simply what every modern D/A-converter chip it makes internal – is just.
The chip is called in this case of Burr-Brown PCM1793, and like the most D/A converter, it provides differential plus and minus outputs for each channel. Moon crosses out also balanced these two operational amplifiers (as analog filters and output stage) via two XLR Sockets.
Who runs a really balanced amplifier, should use be sure these outputs – which, for example, thanked AUDIO reference combination Ayre K-5xeMP and V-5xeMP for clearly designed, fokussierterem sound.
RCA was certainly not bad – it is finally the same the same pathway by which one hears only one positive signal half. Compared to the other two “expensive” converters in this test the 300 d assumed the role of the dark seducer.
Sound softer and warmer than benchmark and Restek, it was Lambchop “Slipped dissolved and loosed” (from “OH (Ohio)”) on a very large stage, more individuality and expression gave the guitar playing on the left and right edge. A price that were willing to pay the testers like to was that vocalist Kurt Wagner now no longer quite so accurately articulated his words like above the benchmark.
Also the Restek although attracted in individual events – about with his wonderfully clear midrange-, resembled the Canadians but on the other hand also Small format and dynamically not quite so through strong.
