Colorado - mountains and vastness
Colorado is a state in the United States and is located
in the central west with the Rocky Mountains running through
the state. Denver is the capital and center of Colorado.
Colorado used to be one of the central linchpins of the gold
rush and many places still testify to the excitement of the
time.
Mountains and plateaus
Colorado's landscape is an experience of contrasts. In
the west of the country, the Rocky Mountains, mountainous
landscapes and forested river valleys predominate. The Great
Plains begin in the east of the state. The Great Plains are
one of the most important agricultural regions in the United
States. It is a steppe landscape that covers large parts of
the USA and is closely linked to the history of this region.
The most famous rivers in this region include the Rio
Grande and the Colorado. Both rivers have their source here.
Not only rivers, but also lakes can always be found here in
the landscape. Some of the lakes are in Rocky Mountain
National Park, such as Grand Lake.
Due to the many different landscapes in this state, the
climate is also very different. From cold snowy mountains to
dry steppe climates, Colorado has everything to offer.
From conquest to gold rush - an eventful past
Before the first Europeans explored the area, there were
some Indian tribes in this region. The Navajo and the
Cheyenne Indians are just two of the most influential tribes
that settled in this area.
Colorado's first discoverers were probably Spaniards. The
area where Colorado is today had to be given up and
rewritten several times during history. After wars between
French and English, the areas passed to Britain. In 1803,
the entire area passed to the United States, which acquired
this area in the so-called Louisianna Purchase.
At the time of the gold rush, many of the so-called
Frontier cities developed in this region. The entire region
was heavily populated and influenced by the settlers who
were looking for gold and wealth. But it wasn't just the
shiny gold that caused the flow of people. The silver finds
in the neighboring areas also became a magnet for anyone
looking for quick money.
The growth of the white population was not without
consequences for the Indians. Indian tribes were repeatedly
resettled, often against their will. Small reserves offered
the tribes a place of retreat, and the conditions here were
not always right and just.
In the 20th and 21st centuries, Colorado was hit
repeatedly by various economic crises. As a result of the
crises, some of the old towns were abandoned and Colorado
became famous for its ghost towns.
New life - not just ghost towns
Next to the capital Denver is Colorado's economic and
social center. Life is not limited to this region. Colorado
Springs and Fort Collins are also important cities that make
up a large part of life in Colorado.
The rural regions are also very important. It's not just
the Great Planes that have contributed a great deal to the
history of the United States. The region of the Rocky
Mountains with all mines and the history of the gold rush is
a region that should not be underestimated.

Colorado is one of the characteristic states of the United
States. With tropical weather during the New Year,
travelers to Colorado can enjoy almost 300 days of sunshine
a year. Denver is the capital of the destination and the
right place to enjoy a different itinerary around the
country, without giving up good attractions like museums,
skyscrapers and nature. The best way to explore Denver is
on foot, especially in the downtown area, where there are
many restaurants and shops. One of the must-see places there
is the Denver Art Museum, which has 70,000 items on display,
including works of art that date back to the western
era. Worth the visit!

Colorado was founded exactly 100 years after the declaration
of independence was signed. Today Colorado is best known for
its world's best ski areas. In Colorado you can experience
cold, snowy winters and hot, sunny summers. Whether you
prefer the mountainous Rocky Mountains or want to see the
beginning of the Great Plains, everything is possible in
this state.
Denver is the state capital and the largest city in the
state. If you look at the many educational opportunities,
sights, and cultural diversity, it is not surprising that
2.5 million people have made this city their home.
Denver is also one of America's youngest cities, born
during the great "Pike's Peak Goldrush" of 1859. Because
Denver is close to the Rocky Mountains , it is always
associated with a lot of snow. It is true that Denver has no
more snow than Los Angeles because it is in the Plains. A
good hour's drive is enough to enjoy the famous Rocky
Mountain Powder. |
