Under the affordable DACs in this test, one of the testers when compared were hardest separate was clearly the atoll DAC 100 (550 euro).

- Data sheet
Together with the Restek’s atoll DAC100 the only native Europeans in the test. Like its more expensive relatives – about the multichannel player SACD 200 from issue 7/2010 – the cheap converter is created completely in France. The boards are mounted in the main factory in Normandy by hand, soldered, and tested, the sheet metal chassis comes from Brittany, the aluminium front panels lasert a supplier in the department, Lorraine, the PSU a partner from the Rhone River.
Also non-francophile HiFi friends will appreciate that the DAC 100 is richly blessed with inputs and even digital outputs – and closer viewing of the Interior call an appreciative “chapeau!”: the power supply for digital and analog level form separate transformers and seven massive voltage regulator together with abundant capacitors, and after the three inevitable digital chips (input receiver, USB controller, D/A converter) not only another IC in the signal path can be found.
The French composed the power voltage converter stage which the Burr-Brown converter needs first, out of the discrete individual transistors like the following output stage, which also operates without any feedback. This increases the distortion slightly (see measuring laboratory), must be also responsible for the wonderfully intense, captivating musical sound of DAC 100.
Under the affordable DACs in this test, one of the testers when compared were hardest separate was quite clear to the atoll. Also, the Frenchman was not healthy, could make, for example, still more pressure in the bass and loud, complex passages more overview true can. Test points that clearly sovereign hooked the musical fidelity – to were that in terms of enthusiasm, then again beaten to give color variety and expressiveness the atoll.
